FAQs

3D Printed Car Parts - FAQ
Can existing parts be modified?
Yes! We are always happy to adjust our parts as needed to meet your custom dash bezel requests. Usually, there is a small fee incurred, but you’ll get one-on-one time with a designer who will send you proofs of your custom part to make sure you get exactly what you want. We use professional CAD software, such as Solidworks and Fusion360, and have the skills required to get your one-of-a-kind idea from the drawing board to production as quickly as possible. Simply reach out to us using our Custom Inquiries & Contact form.
Can you design custom parts other than dash bezels?
We are always happy to assist you with any design project. While our main passion lies in custom automotive restoration and modification, our team has the skills to take on any project. For example, we recently designed an intake manifold for a supercharged BMW. Check out our blog or YouTube channel for info on some of our more unique projects! We also offer several services, including consultation, 3D scanning, CAD design and modification, and manufacturing. We also have several ways to make your part, from multi-axis CNC machines to laser cut sheet metal and more - check out our services. Click here for more information and inquiries.
Are you limited to only 3D Printing?
While we specialize in providing the best quality 3D prints, we are also well-versed in traditional manufacturing methods, such as milling and laser cutting. We always cater our design features to mesh well with the intended manufacturing method. This ensures that production costs are minimized, saving you time and money. For larger orders, we can also explore production welding processes if the part requires it. Simply reach out to us using our Custom Inquiries & Contact form to get started!
What is your lead time (production vs custom)?
Lead time for digital dash bezels can vary due to order volume. Generally, all Street Line parts ship within a week. For Premium Line parts, lead time is generally 2-4 weeks due to the extra finishing required. If you have any questions on order status, feel free to inquire about your order.
Are your parts durable? How do I care for my printed parts?
We have sold thousands of printed parts with less than a 1% failure rate. The secret to our success is the materials we select. Many of our parts are made of carbon-fiber infused filament, which is highly durable, impact and UV resistant, and withstands high temperatures. Extreme temperatures can damage printed parts—car interiors have been recorded at over 195°F! We recommend using a sunshade when parked.
How to Paint / Finish a Printed Part?
While our standard satin black finish (Street Line) is suitable for most applications, some customers want to color match a part to their build. Simply use a high-build primer, sand smooth, then topcoat with your color of choice. For Premium Line parts, prep with degreaser before spraying with your color. We recommend SEM Color Coat or similar plastic/vinyl paints.
